This thing is a powerhouse! First thing I tried was trimming aluminium heatsinks with the 8mm flush bit that comes with the router. It cut away 3mm from the sides like knife through butter! Then put on a chamfer bit and tried on marine plywood. Cut it away like knife through butter!
It's very easy to operate, has very little vibration and great handle placement and grip. Light is fine for illuminating the work zone but intensity depends on RPM as the LEDs are powered magnetically. At half speed it is ample bright though and at full speed it is just awesome.
What I loved most about this router is its soft-start mechanism. There is literally zero jerks and shakes when the switch is pushed. The rotor starts moving at a very low speed and gradually reaches full speed in about two seconds so even if the bit is touching somewhere when it starts there is little chance of kickback. Noise is RPM-dependant - at lower speeds it is quite quiet but Man at full speed is it LoUD!!! Eerdrum prtexon is a muzt!
Three collets are provided in the box. 6mm, 6.35mm and 8mm. This made my day really, as I can use all the bits I have.
The baseplate is sturdy and the cover underneath slips well on surfaces. Cuts came out really precise and movement was smooth.
All in all, a winner!
P.S. It was shipped by Cloudtail and packing was plain pathetic - and even that is probably an understatement. But I will leave it at that because 1) can't find a lower word and 2) Thank god the router comes with a pretty solid carrying case.
